We are pleased to announce our judges for QuiltCon, Joelle Hoverson and Rashida Coleman-Hale!
Joelle Hoverson is the founder and part owner of New York City’s beloved fabric and yarn shop, Purl Soho, as well as its online store purlsoho.com and its popular blog, the Purl Bee. Joelle is also the author of three craft books, all published by Stewart Tabori + Chang: Last-Minute Knitted Gifts,Last-Minute Patchwork + Quilted Gifts and More Last-Minute Knitted Gifts. Trained in painting and steeped in a lifetime of crafting, Joelle brings her passion for color and her fresh outlook to all of her endeavors. Joelle lives in rural Connecticut with her two wonderful dogs and her unruly gardens.
Rashida Coleman-Hale is currently a designer with Cloud9 Fabrics and studied Fashion Design at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Rashida spent much of her youth in Tokyo, Japan where her great love for linen began. Her experiences there have completely influenced her work and its style. Her first book, I Love Patchwork, was published by Interweave press in Fall 2009 and was awarded the 2010 PubWest Book Design Bronze Medal in the How-To/Crafts category. Her second book, Zakka Style, was published by C&T Publishing in Fall 2011 and was awarded the 2012 International Book Award in the Crafts/Hobbies category.
